Thanked: 1Scotch
Well I've seen the liquor store thread and the vodka thread but I didn't see one for my perfered drink, scotch. I've found my tastes slowly growing more expensive over the years and sometimes like to sit down with a 30yo single caske scotch. I'd like to know what some of your favorite scotches are. Right now mine are Glen Rothes and MaCallan.

Thanked: 317It's no contest for me. The Balvanie Double Wood. 12 years old.
Aged for 8 years in Sherry barrals and then transfert to Port barrels to finish for 4 more years.
I prefer it neat on a very cold day with a book.

Thanked: 1I agree if you get a good scotch neat is the way to go. Book or just listening to music.

I'm not a big Scotch drinker, the peat turns me off, but my Scottish mate gave me a bottle of Glengoyne and it is fantastic stuff. Smooth and clean...definitely a winner. A drop of water and a quiet evening make it perfect!
I still prefer a good bourbon, though.

I like to have a bottle of Laphroaig by the fireside.

I usually prefer Highland single malts, but now and then an Islay really hits the spot too. I don't have all that much experience with differend brands, so I can't be too much more specific. I usually keep a bottle in the house, though, right on my kitchen counter with my Britta and my Scotch glasses.

Thanked: 132My two favorites are Oban and Lagavulin...however, i keep Dalwhinnie in the crystal decanter as a 'house' whisky.
Oh, and Peat rocks, btw!!!

Thanked: 156I like the Macallan 18 yr. And the Balvenie Double Barrel.
Saw the Lagavulin 12 yr at Costco. Tempted to buy it. But its $80, is it really worth it?
Also saw Glenmorangie 10 yr in a 1.75 ltr bottle for $80.
