I am ignorant on the adult air rifles some of you are showing. The Cricket mentioned, 850 fps with a .22 projectile is impressive, how accurate is it, when do you know when to stop pumping, and whats the price range? Seriously interested for small game.
You don't pump you get your divers cylinder filled from a dive center it last quite sometime and filling costs are very cheap, on the safety side your divers tank needs to passed for safety and the ticket lasts 5 years before you need another check, the Rifle comes with a display charge pressure gauge built into the rifle I'll leave you a video showing how they are filled, the costs of these high powered air rifles are about the same cost as any other high end rifle plus side ammo can be very cheap and they are extremely accurate with much less recoil.

Here's a 'toy' for you:

Thats it, I don't want to be limited to a HP tank. I have a Gamo Shadow that is .177 cal. at 1000fps, but accuracy is so so. Not really any good at 25 yards. Wanting high power, accurate pump or spring action.
Here's few air rifles being produced in the US for you guys to consider.

No, but you need one to justify the purchase to your wife.
I will have to agree, I guess if he needs help we could all help him to come up with something good.
Mine is usually but it's new and shiny :D
Then when I whine about not having one for long enough I get to go buy it.....That or I say I've had that, I guess you just never saw it
That's still kinda answering to yourself isn't it?
Couldn't we ALL have so many more toys if that Damn Bank Account didn't say NO!!! :rofl2:
30 years ago I was sitting at a red light one night, in Bellville NJ on Main Ave. An SUV one car length ahead, in the lane to the left of me, got rear ended big time by another vehicle. The SUV had that bumper sticker cuda mentioned, 'He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins' and I thought there was delicious irony in that.
You mean like this.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girandoni_air_rifle
They say effective out to 125 yds but give no other ballistic info.
edit a little more info

No wife, so no problem?
Like Cuda says, funds is a limiting factor though. The Bank Account ruins a lot of my potential fun!
I guess I don't really need a practical reason, I do have a .300 Weatherby Magnum lying around. It's not like I'm going to go long-range Grizzly or Moose hunting any time soon in the Mid-Atlantic region. But man that thing is fun to play with at the range. It looks like a 30-06, and if the guy in the next bay doesn't see me putting in the shells their reaction when I touch off that first round can be priceless.
Got my LTC a few days ago, and I'm loving it. I'm a college student in Texas, so it's legal for me to carry. Right now I'm packing an XDS 9mm.
My story goes forward. Gun safe is due for delivery by FedEx on Wednesday. Which means I am able to apply for my FAC.
Not been to the range in ages though 😞

I got lucky. Here in Texas it normally takes a bit to get your license to carry. Luckily for me, only took 19 days! Are you able to carry on you in the UK?
Absolutely not, If you ever stated you wanted a firearm for self protection you would be instanly dismissed from ever owning a firearm, you need written permission from a land owner a clean crimminal record, access to your full medical records 2 referees a fully lockable firearm safe including a lockable ammo case, then you would be subject to police checks and house calls, and this can take 4 or 5 months as there is a huge back log waiting list at present, once they are sure you are a suitable candidate then they may issue you a FAC certificate, even then you will be subject to ammo and gun and rifle restrictions.
I do not envy your predicament. Hopefully all woaks out for you.
If you come to the states there are many states that have ranges you can go to and shoot some really cool guns. They even have this place in Texas where you can drive tanks and shoot the main gun (ridiculously expensive though).
Man that's rough.
Much prefer the way it works here. Just need a good background check, state ID, and money to purchase what you want. Only restriction is the caliber can't really be over .50 unless it's a flintlock.
If you want to actually carry a gun here, you don't need a permit. You just can't conceal it. Want to conceal it, then you need to take a course to prove you're competent with the weapon, apply with the state police, go through a more rigorous background check, and if they clear you they issue the permit. They have to respond within 45 days, and if they don't have a reason to deny it, they have to issue the permit.
They don't ask for a reason. I guess the reason is obvious if you're putting in the application. I need to do the renewal application, my permit expires next month. I've gotten spoiled by the ability to conceal, I don't want to go back to open carry lol.
Well here in the UK handguns are strictly prohibited with only 2 exceptions I know of.
Long barreled pistols which essentially makes it a rifle length.
Humane dispatchers I believe can hold a license for a handgun.
Other than that any calibre of rifle can be held to my understanding up to and including 50cal.

I'm curious about the UK and hunting lodges/guided hunts. Do lodges provide or rent firearms to clients?
I honestly dont know.
I know if I want to go to a clay pigeon shoot for instance I can hire a shotgun and have at some clays all done on private land, and I also know that you can head to a lodge and hunt deer etc. But not sure as a non FAC holder in the UK if you can hire a firearm for this.
However as a foreigner from a country that allows firearms ownership, if your gun is legal in the UK you can apply cor a license to bring it to the UK I believe.

Here in Missouri as of 1/1/17 you no longer need a permit to carry concealed.
Another thing regarding UK law, if for whatever reason if you held a firearm or shotgun licence in the UK and your home was broken into and the assailent attacked you and robbed you, then you shot and killed him with your firearm you would go to jail, if you even beat the hell out of the attacker in your own home you can only use appropriate force anything above appropriate force then you are in trouble, now you see what it's like when liberal lunatics and european law runs your country for the last 40 years. I'm so pleased we have signed off with brexit and we are on our way YIPPIE! lets get back to common sense once again.
Wow that is rough in the UK. Iowa you can sit through a class and don't ever touch a gun that's $50, then your permit is $60. Or you can take the class online and again never touch a gun. Then after that just conceal and go. Kinda crazy you never go through any fire arms safety here.
ejmolitor37, do you have to take a safety class to buy a firearms hunting license in Iowa?
In Missouri everyone born after 1967 (I think that is the year) has to take a hunters safety class before they can buy a firearms hunting permit.
To hunt you have to take hunter safety course if over 18 I believe you can do that online as well. So you don't touch a gun there either.
Younger than 18 and you go through a 3 day class iirc.
21 and over you get a permit to purchase and can buy guns and carry open. Or take the class mentioned in my last post to carry concealed. Pretty much you can never have touched a gun, go buy one take a online conceal class and be walking around with a gun. Not smart in my opinion.
We are a shall issue state which changed about 3 years ago I believe.
I do find it quite interesting to see how different states in the US handle firearms legislation.
Here in the UK firearms are a reserved issue held at Westminster. But we do have some variations. Celticcrusader who I believe lives in Wales can buy an airgun up to a certain power. No questions asked, but as of 1/1/2017 here in Scotland that is no longer the case. A license is required for any airgun, and the law on firearms in Northern Ireland is seperate from that of the rest of the UK.

That is strange. Here you have to take a class at a range. And the last part, you have to fire 12 rounds. 10 of the 12 have to hit a circle about the same size as a person's chest I'd say for you to pass.
When I took mine, there was a woman there trying the test with a gun she'd rented at the shop. I think it was a .357, she said she left her .38 at home. It went about like you'd expect, but the proctor was kind enough to let her try it again.
At any rate, considering how dangerous guns are I can't imagine many folk would buy a gun, take the course, but never learn how the thing operates. At least to some degree. And there's no helping those that would, because if you DID make them take a course like the one here they'd probably also be the type to just say screw licenses and carry it anyway.
There's always hope. It's a constant ebb and flow here. My Virginia Concealed carry license at one point had mutual recognition in 37 states. In 2015 our state's Attorney General took it upon himself to try and scrap 25 of those reciprocity agreements. That didn't go over so well, and his decision was reversed pretty quickly.
Laws can change. Just a matter of getting the right electorate in.
I agree its crazy to me that people that have no clue how a guns operates can get one and carry it. We used to have to qualify here but that changed. It was a joke as well, you could qualify with a 22 cal and then carry an AE 50!
Hey Guys,
Find a way to steer this thread back to "Show & Tell",,, please.
