Thread: A No-Wedding Gift

The strikingly beautiful daughter of some friends of ours had announced her engagement with much enthusiasm about a year ago. We met the lucky guy at a party last winter. Perhaps it was partly my thinly veiled envy but I told Scarlett on the way home that I was less than impressed with the young lady's choice for a husband. For lack of any better description, to me the guy seeme like a total putz. As my vote carried no weight in the decison, our friends scheduled the wedding for August 15th.

Well, I was right! The bride to be found her dear fiancee was shopping the gay singles ads on pornographic swingers websites. She made this discovery a week before the big day (which is infinitely better than finding out a week after the big day.) The nuptials were called off. After meeting the guy I suspected she accepted his proposal only to get a gift from me. To show my support, I made her a gift anyway. It is made from Canadian big leaf maple burl, Macassar ebony and turquoise:



I hope she likes it. I'm sure it beats being a beard for some creepy putz.
