In the 1970's my dad did a pretty good side business simply using generic chlorine bleach and mixing it with water, and slapping some "Mil-Kil" labels on clear plastic jugs. He would sell it around town (Jacksonville, FL) through K-Marts, barber shops, etc. He always got rave reviews, and just told folks it was his secret formula for killing Mildew. And it does kill the stuff on contact, and even has some residual killing effect. Brought back memories of my dad seeing this post ... Thanks!

Clorox works well, but make sure to have some good ventilation and do not breath it in. If you breath it in it can actually burn your lungs or cause you to pass out. Bleach can be very dangerous when inhaled. I do not suggest using it, but if you must. Have proper ventilation and a mask and do not stay in the room for long periods of time or you will get ill.
