    Yep..I was afraid to look at my hand after the shockwave, huge recoil, red flame , cloud of smoke etc. Was not sure it would still be there. Still, black powder is fun stuff, if you follow ALL the safety rules! Grease those chamber mouths!

    I quit using felt cylinder plugs and went to grease after I had a chain fire with a Colt Walker. Fortunately the Walker is so heavy and the cylinder so long the only thing that got damaged was my underwear.

    As a kid the first time I loaded my late fathers' Remington cap and ball, I used petrolium jelly, ever time I fired a shot, it let two go, I would hand it to Dad, and he would only have a cap go off, took me a moment or two to fiqure I was letting two shots go at once !! have used waterpump grease ever since !!
    I sure as hell would like a Sharps, probable in 45/70, I am getting a little fragile in my old age !!

    cheers the smell of black powder in the morning. Ps made my first batch and put it though my Colt Navy, went off ok, but not a lot of punch. Have to find some willow for charcoal
