I quit using felt cylinder plugs and went to grease after I had a chain fire with a Colt Walker. Fortunately the Walker is so heavy and the cylinder so long the only thing that got damaged was my underwear.

As a kid the first time I loaded my late fathers' Remington cap and ball, I used petrolium jelly, ever time I fired a shot, it let two go, I would hand it to Dad, and he would only have a cap go off, took me a moment or two to fiqure I was letting two shots go at once !! have used waterpump grease ever since !!
I sure as hell would like a Sharps, probable in 45/70, I am getting a little fragile in my old age !!
