Thanked: 6Humidors
Hello all,
I'm looking for a 30-50 cigar humidor, and its hard to discern what is quality and what is crap online. I'd love a glass-top, but I'm not super picky. Just something that looks nice, maintains humidity and wont blow the bank. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Buy a cooler.
The smaller humidors are nice looking, but unfortunately they don't work as well as they should.
A cooler works great.

Thanked: 4I am new to the forums here, but I have been smoking cigars for about four years now. It has been my experience that if you think you want a 25 to 50 count you should buy a 100 count. It is quite the sickness. I bought my first humidor from cigar.com. Either the medium or large Southport humi's have worked great for me.

I bought a 25-50 from cheaphumidors.com last year, and had to buy a 100 this year because I needed more space. So I agree with cutter: get a 100 in the first place.

Thanked: 3+1 to just buying a cooler if you're only looking at a low count. I bought a 50 count when I first started 2-3 years ago, about 6 months later I bought my 1,000 count cabinet . Realistically it's not thaaaaaat much more, besides it's much easier to maintain humidity. Most of the little ones have poor seals and for a million other reasons they're harder to keep the humidity up.
Here's the one I have and I'm very happy with it.
Lexington Cabinet - Tampa Humidor
Whatever you decide make sure you use humidity beads not those crap cartridges.

Thanked: 3also I would personally stay away from the glass top, less cedar to help maintain humidity. the light gets in and will also change the temp & could damage cigars over the long term.

I agree! The table top humidors look great but the cooler idea really really works well. I did a quick google search and came up with this: http://www.cigar-info-guide.com/ciga...or-cooler.htmlLast edited by mikedelo; 12-29-2009 at 10:14 PM.

Thanked: 6+1 for the cooler. I've never had one, but my buddies say they perform well. I use a 16 cft cabinet - I wanted something that served a purpose and looked like furniture.
There's also the vino temp option, it's a small wine cooler that can do around 500 cigars and regulate temperature better than a cooler if that's a concern where you live.

+1 on the size not being enough I would go no less than 150ct.
Also go with RH beads from cigarmony or heartfelt. I use more than I need but my humidor is rock solid at 65%. That is what I am shooting for. Also pitch the analog hygrometer that comes with most humidors and get a digital.

Thanked: 2591I got this one
Amazon.com: The Capri 50 Cigar Humidor: Home & Garden
has excellent reviews, and I frankly am very happy with it.
You only need to get better humidifying dish the one that comes with the humidor is useless.Stefan
