Default Things that work for me!

In over six decades of life I have ran across several products that have stood the test of time. I thought I would list a few if anyone is intrested.
These products are ones that I have used or close personal friends of mine have recommended.

Glasses - Moscot eyewear - New York City. They make fine frames and have copies of styles from the 1940's and 50's. My favorite is the Yukel model.

Leather Jackets - www.****pitusa.com. I have a jacket from this company i have work for over 30 years. It is as good today as when I first bought it.

Watches - Traser Watches. I have one that I have used for over 20 years. It keeps very accurate time and will stand rough handling. I prefer their origional automatic model.

Pistols - I carry and use Springfield Armory Model 1911 and XD models. I have never had a problem with them. I use Corbon ammo and Milt Sparks leather gear.

Boots - White Shoe Company of Spokane Washington. Had a pair for over 24 years, sent back to be rebuilt twice. They are fantastic.

Pipes and tobacco - I don't smoke a pipe anymore but years ago I favored Comoy pipes and Bells Three Nun's tobacco.

Booze - I seldom drink any alcohol. But a drink I always enjoyed was Segrams V. O. and ginger ale.

Jeans - Lee Jeans. They beat Wranglers and Levi's in my opinion.

These are just a few of my favorite things. Jump in with your opinions.

Watches - The older Timex (non digital), I have beat the hell out of a Timex through regular use (I'm clumsy and hard on watches) and the watches still work.

Hard Drives - Western Digital, I've had WD HDs survive fires, some other models (Maxtor) had surface errors within a couple years.

Skate Shoes - I am rough on shoes (always have been) and I'm not sure why, but skate shoes are made to be worn while essentially standing and maneuvering on sandpaper. I personally prefer globe but most skate shoes are build rugged.

    Great thread!

Watches: G Shock. I am notoriously rough on watches. Nothing beats them. The insides outlast the outsides.

Tools: Snap On and MAC. Lifetime warranty. Precision engineering and craftsmanship.

Hard drives: I second the WD's. My raptors still chug along. No problems here.

Meter: HP Calan 3010R. Mine is almost 23 years old. Company-issued best do-it-all meter ever. I've dropped that thing from 25 feet onto a sidewalk and went about my business chasing noise floors with it. Alas, technology has caught up and next year I'll have to turn her in. I will miss her. The JDSU meters they're testing on our system are GARBAGE.

Boots: I love my Red Wings. A little care and they last. I'm really rough on those, too. If I have to gaff, I'm gaffing in comfort. 20 minutes in one spot is hard on the feet......and my Red Wings are great. Next year I'll try Wescos so I can have "the best".

Jeans: GAP. The fit and comfort is outstanding. Worth every penny.

CD Player: Sony CDP C715. Has withstood the test of time. It's about 20 years old now. Never needed a cleaning. It was way ahead of its time with the signal processing.

I'd personally add craftsman to this entry for the non proffessional...

Snap On and MAC make some professional tools. Yet I've found that craftsman has the same lifetime warranty for less. Granted craftsman does not have the same attention to the little details on the tools, like screwdrivers with tempered tips and a hex at the top of the shaft. I figure if you are buying as a pro for your shop definitely Snap On or MAC, but buying for the home handyman Craftsman for sure.

Let's see...I really like shell cordovan shoes (mainly Alden). They really work for me. De Cecco pasta is another favorite around our house. Then there are a few stalwarts like the Macallan whisky, Cohiba & Montecristo cigars....they have rarely let me down. All the gear I have gotten from Filson would make the list as well.

Great question, I'll have to think about it some more.
