Thanked: 2First Old Time Barber Shop Haircut in a Long Time
Well living here on Long Island NY is not getting any cheaper and after paying a Hair "Salon" $40 plus tip for a haircut I thought it was about time for a change. So I headed out this afternoon to find a regular old time barber shop.
Three blocks from the house I found one and I said what the heck I'll give it a try. That's where I met Jerry my new Old Time Barber. Well I have to say it was the most relaxing experience I've had in a long time. Real old style like when I was a kid growing up in New Jersey. Scissor and comb, trim around the ears and neck with a Str8 razor, eyebrow and ear hair trimmed. Finished off with a little clubman aftershave on the neck and around the ears followed by some Clubman talc. Cost me $13 plus a tip and now I'm in military regulations with this haircut.
Brought back a lot of memories from when I was 11 years old and used to go to Ray's at the Castle Barber Shop on Marshall Street in Paterson NJ. Loved having the STR8 shave trim around the ears and neck back then as well. Ray is gone now and so is the shop but today's haircut brought me back there in my mind.

I agree. I am by no means very old, 21, but do remember being taken to an old time barber shop when I was a "kid." Thanks for your story, it reminded me of my time as a kid with my Dad going to get a haircut.
