    Default Sci Fi Novel Quest

Several years ago someone recommended a good sci fi novel for me to read, but I just cannot remember the title or the author.

All I can remember, somewhat, is a bit of the plot. Essentially Earth's orbit periodically (on the order of millenia?) intersects with the beam of a certain distant pulsar which has the peculiar effect of changing time, or biology, or something dramatic of that sort. In the story, the Earth is about to have another such change.

    Ring a bell for anyone?

This is similar to, but not quite the plot of Brain Wave by Poul Anderson.

A very good read. It might not be what you're looking for, but you may find it interesting.

Not really sure if that is the one, but having read the wiki link you posted I want to read Brain Wave. Thanks!

BTW, I did find something online similar to the plot I thought I remembered, but instead of a book, it was from an episode of the television show Sliders.

I read a short story, smething over forty years ago, that was titled NIGHTFALL. A bit similar to the story line you mention and rather interesting, as I recall.

That's another great story! I read it in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Vol. 1, which is chocked full of many of the classic SF short stories of the mid 20th (wow!) century.

I dont know what book you are trying to find... But another excellent Sci-Fi series is "Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind.

I can't help you, but theres actually a thread at sffworld.com with this very purpose, to find books that you only have a vague idea about.

Help! Do you know.... (SF) - sffworld.com

I used it sometime back to find a book I'd read a while back.
