Default Whos tying flies in anticipation spring thaw?

Actually, I'm not waiting till Sring. Have been waist deep in creeks every month of the last ten years. Caught a brown in the Yellow Breeches of Central PA on New Years day, and have fished January blue wing olive hatches on the Letort a few times this month (missing about 5 strikes!). The little black stone flies start hatching soon and it all begins again.

I fish almost exclusively on the surface, so tying some bwos and midges. Guess I'll need some black stoneflies soon as well.

    Any other fly tyers, fishers?

just doing some hard water fishing up here in N.H. every lake and stream is frozen, hard to do any fly fishing. But we are going smelting up in Dresdin,Maine this weekend, what a blast. We can throw some flys at landlock salmon up here starting April 1 but the only drawback is that the lakes are still frozen at that time.As a matter of fact a new 4w TFO fly rod just showed up at the door this morn, cant wait for spring!!

I've never done any fly fishing but I used to love tying flies. The detail and variety was endless. Tying a tiny royal coachman was my favorite. It is truly therapeutic and if you can use them to catch fish, so much the better.

Have you any photos of your flies?

Royal Coachman is a classic. I'll try to post some of my flies.

But what a day. Trudged through 20 inches of fresh fallen snow to the banks of the famed Letort Spring Creek. Yes, there was a hatch of small Blue Wing Olives. Landed two gorgeous wild browns, one going 14".

    Back to the Super Bowl.

I'll be tying some spring steelhead flies soon. After that, I'll work on the trout boxes.

Trout boxes are full; starting to work on the Saltwater stuff. I'm hoping we have better weather this spring; last year was tough.

Believe it or not, these are Mexican rainbows from the mountains in Baja. Some flies just seem to work better after they get beat up a little.
