Thanked: 7Morels
I was lucky enough to find a secret stash of morels growing near my house, here in San Diego. I doubt they will be back next year, so I am making the best of it while I can. I have had them just about every way I can think of, in a red wine, and cream sauce, fried with butter and garlic, dipped in flour and fried in butter, with scrambled eggs, even in my ramen ......... So, does anyone have any good morel recipes?

Nice bunch of morels you've got there. Unless the ground gets disturbed they should be back in the same area next season, shouldn't they?
We don't get morels around here (Ohio) until late spring.

Thanked: 8WOW - that is a nice pile of morels. I live on Vancouver Island we have just about every mushroom there is but I have never found even a single Morel! They are available here and I have friends who pick them almost exclusively but they are elusive to me. I'm stuck with Chanterelles!

Man O Man ! I love those things. I used to hunt them when I lived in Ohio but since moving to Florida 25 years ago haven't had any. Enjoy ! Pop one in your mouth and say "This one is for Ol Mack".

WOW! That is an awesome find! My Mother in Law makes an awesome cream based morel soup for Christmas each year. I'll see if I can't score the recipe for you.
We used to hunt them when I was in college and my favorite way to enjoy them was to wipe them clean and then fry them in enough olive oil to cover them half way.
Drain them on a paper towel lined plate, salt them and dig in! Such a wonderful earthy flavor.
I am jealous!

Here in the hills, they go by the nickname "Mollymoochers," and they are much beloved. We won't see 'em for another couple of months, well after the ramps come up.
It sounds like you're pretty handy in the kitchen. As such, go here: Anthony Bourdain's blanquette de veau fit for a dinner party and make the recipe, subbing the button mushrooms with those magnificent morels.
I've had it done that way and it's nothing short of transcendent. You probably won't have the trouble coming by the veal that I do here in WV.
Bon apetit!
