Okay, today (Monday 1 pm ) I drive north to Anaheim. Aneheim is about an hour and a half drive from my house but only an hour from my last job just before the drive. I head west on the 78 until I hit 5 north and continue up 5 north until exit 110 which is Harbor BLVD. I head up harbor BLVD and turn left onto Ball Rd and promptly get lost...several times. Finally I find the check point where my vehicle is to be inspected before being permitted onto the Disneyland grounds. "Who are you" says the man at the check point. "I am Mark with JMS bakery and deli equipment repair." I say. He plays with his computer keyboard for a bit and then says "I have no record of you coming today." So I call my contact and after 15 or so minutes the man at the check point fills out a pass and directs me to the proper gate.
As I drive through the back alleys of Disneyland I note Indians with no hair, Bodiless Hippopotamus heads, eviscerated electronic doodads, and other sights too painful to recollect here. It was truly a joy!!
So, I finally make it to the bakery which had many machines that are very familiar to me and a couple that weren't. They brought me through the first floor which was humongous, maybe even too large for the amount that it appeared that they were producing. They led me to an elevator where I was certain led to the floor where they turned humans into electronic and mechanical amusement for the masses. When the elevator door opened it led to a proof box. This is basically a box of any size you wish for raising the final shaped yeasted dough before it goes to the ovens. The box creates heat no greater than 100 degrees and humidity no greater than 90 %. This box was approximately 12 ft wide by 12 ft deep by 8 ft high. I looked the unit over for a bit, determined the problem and am now in the process of ordering parts.
As we are leaving my contact stops me in the middle of the first floor and says "We are looking for someone to maintain our bakery equipment. Are you interested" I have not given an answer yet, but needless to say, I am excited.Last edited by JMS; 02-23-2010 at 09:14 AM.

Feeling a Tad Braggadocious
My dear Mark:
I am delighted with your good fortune. Congratulations on a job well done and an opportunity well deserved.
Oh, of course you'll accept the gig. Working for a big outfit such as Disney can only spread your reputation in the right direction. It will also work wonders for your resume.
I mean, you will accept the gig!
Good luck.
Regards,
Obie

Congrats, Mark. Once you're in you can start telling them things like, "Ah, I see what the problem is, there's a singing cricket in the works".

I would be damned excited! Great job Mark!
