My Friend Robin (SRP's BeBerlin)
Ladies and gentlemen:
I have always nourished my view of friendship by, among many, a Nigerian proverb, and it goes like this: "Hold a true friend with both hands."
That's how I view my friendship with Robin (SRP Developer BeBerlin). No, we have never met, but we have communicated frequently through e-mail. What has impressed me about Robin is his outspoken and no-nonsense ways. That's how I also see myself.
So when Robin told me my website looked tired and outdated, I agreed. It was half asleep. When I published my first novel several years ago and had to have a website up and running fast, I engaged a designer to put something together quickly. For some reason I was negligent in having it redone later.
Robin offered to redesign my website and pack it with all kinds of features, including a blog. Robin is a computer whiz. I am not sure how aware he was of my total ignorance of computer programs, language, and the rest of that complicated world.
In the process of his work, bless his heart, he showed a lot of patience putting up with my screw-ups as I tried to follow his directions. And, boy, did I screw things up. I kept hoping I had not driven my poor friend to drink.
Finally the website is finished and I am ecstatic with Robin's work. It looks slick and, yes, cool, as my daughter says. I love it. Little by little I will expand my blog, with a section, of course, dedicated to straight razor shaving. Please log on and judge for yourselves: obieyadgar.com.
So thank you, Robin.
Emerson said: "The only way to have a friend is to be one."
And I am, my dear Robin.

Very nice website Obie. Just the fact that you've had two books published impresses me. Robin did a great job for you. He has also , along with Lee and David W.. done a stellar job on the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thank you Obie! You have reminded me of what a help Robin and a couple of others have been to me when I had a few computer problems. Robin and the others(sorry, I am bad with names and monikers ) walked me through my problems through SRP's chat.
Recently I confronted Robin on what I perceived to be a problem of his in a handling an official SRP matter and I started into him a little on the hard side. We worked things out but if I had remembered his kind help I may have given him a little more room instead of launching at him the way I did.Last edited by JMS; 02-23-2010 at 07:59 AM.
