Magpie Mead
Today, one of the attendees at the Rochester meet was our very own Magpie. I found out, during the meet, that he owns/runs a winery. Before leaving, he gifted me a bottle of mead. I looked on the label, saw a website, and visited promptly. Not before I opened the bottle and sampled, of course.
The bottle I have is Legendary Magpie Honey Mead. Normal, unfruited mead tends to be my preference, and I have to say this stuff is very good. It does not have the strong alcohol taste, and it is not overly sweet. It's smooth, delicious, and very easy to drink. Of the limited number of meads I have had thus far, I have to say this is my favorite.
I'd say that if you like mead, you really should check out Magpie.

Not bad at all. I am with you on the unfruited varieties, Dylan. I will have to give that honey mead a shot.

hollie,
I think you've really scored on that one. I've only tasted mead once in my life. That batch was ok. But what you have gotten your hands on sounds absolutely wonderful.

Thanked: 480Wow, I'm flattered.
and smugly pleased as well. I had no clue there was such a following of mead lovers here, or I would have been tooting my horn from the get go.
Most of the time I have to explain to people what it even is!
More proof that straight shavers have a higher intellect.
I drink alone while I hone, I like a drop while I strop, but I'd rather be sober when starting the lather, or the shave that comes after might end up with splatter!
Glad you liked it Dylan. I'll bring more next time. (or, if I do a SRP BBQ, you can all do a tasting)
