Thanked: 6Have you tried Aberlour 12 Double Cask Scotch?
I just wanted to share a few thoughts for you Scotch lovers about a lesser known and fantastic bargain dram from Aberlour. If you lean towards the less smokey tastes of highland Scotch (McCallum, Balvenie, et al..), this is fine bottle that will amaze you at only around 40USD (less in some areas). It is very similar in nature to Balvenie Double Wood but a little smoother finish and just a bit less burn. There are a ton a fruity notes in the nose, maybe a bit much for some purists but I find it a perfect blend of pure Scotch taste, complex body from oak and sherry aging and a warm pleasing finish that leaves you longing for more. I find it to be a great complement to a medium to full bodied Cuban cigar (I often pair with a Bolivar Tubo #2 or H Upmann Corona Majora). I have sampled the 16 YO variety as well but I did not find it as pleasing and certainly not worth the extra $20 spent. If you have not done so already, I highly recommend giving it a whirl as it is IMO difficult to find a good to great Scotch for under $40 and this one way out performs it's price point...Enjoy!

Nice review. Exactly how I would have described it as well.
