If...you can find one and don't mind cleaning them; the best pot brewed coffee that I have ever enjoyed, and still do, is from the old "Sunbeam" electric vacuum maker. The first I remember was at home in the 1950s. Any of the vacuum "Double Bubble" makers are worth trying. If you find one make sure the seal between the sections is supple. They are often to be found at the same venues as razors. A fair price is about $25 for an electric one in good order. They are a vanishing breed! The reason, in my opinion, is that we are so caught up in our running around every day that we think of cleaning and maintaining a coffee maker as too much of a time burden. We do pamper ourselves with a good shave, why not good coffee?

I have a Rancillio Rocky and a Gaggia Colour espresso maker. The Rocky is solid but the Gaggia colour has been giving me troubles since day one. I can't wait to have enough funds to get rid of it and buy something better. I've been using my Aeropress for months because I can't deal with the stupid gaggia.

Awesome information from everyone! I am going to start putting back some money for a Rancillio Rocky and Sylvia WITH a PID and a bottomless portafilter.

...Only one little issue has arisen. When I made this post back in May, I was fully ready study for a month or two and spend a grand and a half on this. Then, a couple of weeks later, we find out that we are having a baby! A few weeks after that: We are having two babies!

This pushes my espresso acquisitions back a little bit. People say its worth it, right?
