I'll second Panama Bob at Panama Hat Works of Montecristi. Many pics and customer comments can be found in the 'Panama Canal' thread over at the Fedora Lounge forum. I picked up a 'super fino' in Dec. and was absolutely blown away by the quality and weave count. You just missed the off season sales - but, do a little serious investigating and you'll find that even his in-season prices are practically pennies on the dollar compared to what the competition charge for similar quality/weave count.

I've bought two hats from Casey both Cuencas (one Havana and one Optimo) both very nice lids indeed. Casey is an American who lives in Ecuador. IMHO, his hats represent a lot of value for the money.

Panamat Hats are so practical. During the super hot, humid, Summer days in Brazil, I will not go outside unless I wear my panama. It keeps the sun off my cabeza and which helps to keep the body temperature lower. Baseball caps are for kids. A real man wears a Panama Hat Fedora.
