    Default A fine Weekend!

I have shared this with some of you, but when I lived in Atlanta, I fell in love with real BBQ. The kind it takes 14+ hours to make. I spent the last 5 years studying everything I could get my hands on to learn how to make rubs, sauces, mops and manage a pit.

I have 2 signature sauces, a rub I use for pork and one I use for beef. I can now slow smoke a 100lbs of pork shoulder at a time and 40lbs of brisket at a time.

I also play bass guitar and have a blues band called The Bourbon Rats.

So this weekend, I did an 80lb pork shoulder cook for my Church, tending the pits through Friday night. Got some sleep. Shaved with my Boker Red Injun, then went to the Church festival, set up, and played blues and classic rock for 4 hours.

I was wiped out, but with Father's day on Sunday - it was well worth it.

These are the kind of weekend's that God gives us to push through the rest of them.

    Cheers!
    David

Right on man that DOES sound like a great way to spend a weekend. I'd trade that for any of my recent weekends (provided it was with my family.) Thanks for sharing. It seems there is so much misery in the world lately that it is nice to hear that someone is enjoying life.

... and it was with my whole family. My kids help me mix my rub spices, make my sauces and man the pits. My wife works at the festival and gets the cold beverages

Both of my kids love to sing Stray Cat Strut with me.

My kids always get incorporated into ANY hobby I have. If it takes time from them - I won't do it. The last thing I want to do when I am old and grey is wish I spent more time with them.
