Horror, the Horror...
Hope I loaded these right
Tired fingers :/
Well I just spent 3 hours fixing a fellow cooks knife. Not only was the tip broken off but the blade has a 1/4" crack about halfway down the blade. I used a diamond grinder needle typw thing on my dremmil to get rid of the crack, as I didn't want the flexing of the blade to make it worse.
I used my DMT plate and the coarse barrel sander on the dremmil to bring the spine down to the edge, creating the new tip. Than I needed to "Hone" away, I say hone as this forum uses the tern more than sharpening, the edge steel till the cut away was gone. This also required me to remove metal from the blade road (side bevels) to kee the knife thin... Ya 3 hours of this is hard on the fingers... and I still want to shave tonight... after they rest
I just thought some would like to see how you can fix a potentially trashed blade if you wanted to... or what it would take to do it as the case is

Wow, very nice job.
I'm surprised. A lot of that Japanese steel is very hard and brittle.
It looks great.

Nice save Chef. Shame about the crack . Looks like he uses that knife hard.

I believe Tojiro uses white steel in this line up. It's their economy line
He better take care of it this time or I'm gonna suggest buying a new one lol as I'll charge him big time

Most important . Always bill 'em in proportion to negligence

wow you saved that one from the trash. now my little brother broke the tip off his Shun 8" chef knife that i got him for his birthday (i believe it was one that you recommended a few years ago) good to know that kind of damage can be repaired
