Me n the wife decided to buy a "shatterproof" Bodum small French coffe press..my wife went to clean it and it shattered in her hands!..everything is fine...any thoughts on a good big one?
Again..thus press felt like plastic but my wife was told it was glass..odd...as of now we are in Paypal money refund dispute but will go in our favor for sure!

That sucks man I feel for you. I bought a large one at Ikea (i'm not sure if they have those in the USA) but it was only about 28 bucks or so onsale... and it is still serving me well. It's been about 4 years now.
You should write to bodum they might warranty it for you! They're a pretty big company.
cheers,

I have the Ikea press that is available in the US... it was much less than 28usd out the door... perhaps 20usd at the extreme.
It's made more good cups of coffee than I could easily count.
Their stovetop espresso maker is also a good deal... Italian built and about 15usd.

My favorite coffee roaster sells three brands of French Press plunger pots. One is made of stainless steel (35 oz capacity) and you would have a hard time shattering that one. <g> ;-) (Love my Chambourd 10 ouncer.)

Was it black? That one stinks. I've had three of those. The first one lasted the longest through 2 wars! The second that came apart I thought was a fluke and then the third one was the last one that I'll buy. I'm not sure what this new one is but it's all glass and stainless steel.

Thanked: 995Or one of these: Aerobie® AeroPress(TM) Coffee & Espresso Maker
I have one that travels most anywhere I'm going to be away from the industrial strength coffee machines I've accumulated, or likely to encounter people who drink coffee I can read a paper through...
If the idea of using a paper filter does not settle well, there is a hack. I had an old "gold" wire filter knocking about the bottom kitchen drawer that got trimmed to fit the aeropress. It works quite well, but I am tempted to investigate some finer mesh at some point in the future. A little sludge is tolerable.

I had the ikea one about 12 bucks?, really cheap and it fell apart.
I now have a bodum.
I also roast my own beans. I prefer the columbian price/quality wise.
