Short stories.
I have always liked short stories. The shorter the better. When you only have 5 to 20 pages to flesh out the story I am certain that it must be difficult but to be able to do it and do it effectively in one page requires a talent beyond mere writing.
This story comes out of an old "Alfred Hitch****'s Mystery Magazine", sept., 1984. The fist scan you see is a picture of someones wet boots. The idea is that readers of this magazine write a short story based on this picture and submit the story to the magazine. the magazine will publish the best submission.
The second scan is the story that this magazine deemed the best. My ex wife introduced me to this story and I find it extremely clever. I hope some of you find it clever also and will submit some 1 or 2 page shorts that you have enjoyed.
Without further ado:

By the way, if you are not a fan of the "Oz" books by Baum or have never seen "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" you may not get this story

That is an interesting concept - drawing off a well recognized piece of pop culture to tell the whole backstory. Very well done.
