Enjoyed a pipe of the new Small Batch edition from C&D named Carolina Red Flake. It is "A blend of the finest North Carolina grown red Virginia's, harvested in 2015, our Carolina Red Flake is a tribute to the Old Belt. Plucked straight from the Carolina soil, these top tier Virginia's were all grown, thrashed, blended, pressed and then lovingly sliced and tinned right here in the heart of old tobacco country."
Tried this in my reborn Ries Blackruf. The open tin smelled of dried fruits with a hint of citrus. Palm rubbed and left to sit for about 15 minutes and it burned perfectly and was smooth and cool. The relaxation started in the front of my head and then settled through me. It was very enjoyable. You may want to consider getting a tin. Unlike the last two small batch releases there are considerably more (2400 numbered tins) being released with this small batch.

Due to a change in brittish and european law it looks like it'll be very difficult for me to get hold of my favourite tobaccos from now on. The selection in Norway is somewhat limited, but dunhill and peterson are available. I know I can get Peterson's perfect plug and Irish flake which are very pleasant, and I like Dunhill nightcap. There's a place selling Ashton's and some gawith hoggarth and sam gawith blends, but not dark plug/flake which is a shame. Anyone care to recommend anything from those brands?
I'm also having to pay about three times the price now, so may well be cutting down, and not so willing to try something new at random without a recommendation. Thankfully I'm going back to the UK next month so should get a chance to stock up a bit.
Smoked quite a bit yesterday with Bayou Morning, Exclusive, Haunted Bookshop, Old Joe Krantz and Engine 99 and several bowls of some of those. Today as usual, I'm starting with Bayoy Morning in a little Black Sea Rock. Heading out for my Monday range day after lunch for some paper targets and then plate tables. Today I'm just taking my Les Baer PII in .45acp with my range loads.
Just finished a bowl of Billy Budd in my used Sea Rock. I like the Castello, it could not smoke better, is very comfortable in the hand, interesting to gaze at and I especially like the depth of the bowl.

VA medical stuff most of today but I did manage a bowl of OJK in my early 80's estate Boswell. Now I can finally relax.
