Maybe I should start a separate thread but I was wondering what other people do as far as a cleaning routine.

I like 120 proof Knob Creek but I don't think I could drink this. I can't imagine the burn.
I keep my pipes really clean.
Swab with a cleaner as soon as done.
After cooling, break down and clean the bit.
I use Q-tips to clean the shank. You go through a lot!
The pipe is left apart overnight to dry and then reassembled.
Never have a problem with a sour pipe.
I let my tobacconist do the reaming but as far as general cleaning its pipe cleaners and clear grain all around. Nothing real elaborate.
That would make sense though about frequent use and drying out. a little rub on the side of your nose though and you can use your natural skin oil to rub on the outer wood to shine up your pipe. inside. I leave to dry after using hootch. This guy seems to have an okay routine.

I do a similar routine as you dave but maybe not quite as intense. I run a cleaner through every pipe I smoked at the end of the day and every couple months I break them down and give them a good cleaning with pipe brush, tooth brush, q tips, bristle cleaners, etc.
I have found that if I clean too often they don’t smoke as good and not often enough they get sour so this is what works for me.
Cleaned the bits with Everclear. While they were fairly clean, I did some color out of a few. It sure smells better than isopropyl.
A guy on Facebook said all he ever did was run a pipe cleaner through his. Said he had some 30 years old that had never been broken down.
That is way too gross for me!
