I like all profiles but tend to lean toward strong tobaccos and VaPers. I like a good aromatic that I can taste the tobacco and is not syrupy. Especially when smoking in public or the car ride into work. I also like to blend my own. I have many blending tobaccos from C&D with some favorite recipes or I will add them to a couple bowls of tinned tobacco for a change in flavor. I would guess my order of things is…
Tobacco ties/twists
VaPer
VaBur
Virginia blends
Aromatics
Latakia
Something like that
I used to love Latakia and will go through seasons of smoking it but that has been my biggest change in flavor profiles over the years.
No aros
Gawith and Hoggarth
Brown Bogie
Brown #4
Burleys
Virginias with little to no perique
I'm not really sure where I stand yet. I do like Aromatics but I try to stay away from the real candy like ones. I like the Old tartan for a change up but tonight I had a bowl Of McClellen Avenue which is a nice light kind of Aro. I know I can't handle perique or too much latakia so I'm somewhere in between the Aro and non Aro world I guess.
I have tried many many aromatics and have only found a couple that I really like (current production). Sometimes I will blend some Virginia’s in for a more tobacco flavor but have found W.O. Larsen to be very good for an aromatic. This is from someone who’s favorite of all is G&H Happy Bogie. There are few tobaccos that I don’t enjoy so I guess I am lucky that way.
Right now I am smoking a homemade blend:
60%-Red Virginia Cavendish with a year age
30%-Twice Stoved Red Virginia
10%- Perique
I have never purposely blended tobacco.
Knowing you can buy whole leaf may get me into this.
One for everyday of the year - and then some! Wow - awesome collection.
