    Default Extra money!!!!!!

So, I began selling off some of my hones this month due to a sudden short fall in my income. The back story is that one of my customers owed me to the tune of approximately 1500 dollars and refused to pay, so, I thought I would sell a few of my "precious" hones to make up for the short fall. I even returned a few item I bought before this all went down to make sure that I could make ends meet this month. Fast forward to 5 0clock today. My customer must have found Jesus. I'm not sure what happened but he decided to cut me a check which left me with a little extra cash...and since I just happened to be in Costa Mesa I just had to stop by my favorite knife store, "Plaza Cutlery" and used a little of that extra cash to purchase me a custom folder by Hiroaki Ohta

Let me show you this beautiful gunstock folder with a 3 inch spear point blade. 3 3/4 inch when closed and 6 3/4 inch when opened. It has some very beautiful stag scales and it is a perfect fit in my hand. The blade has half stops and a stiff back spring (Just the way I like).
    Here are the pics:

I realize that this is perhaps the wrong place to even ask the question , but why not put the money into a savings account so that if this happens again, you don't have to sell any more of your collection?

I am doing just that but imagine the appreciation in that knife in just 5 years. Besides which, I got a 2000% return on my investment in my escher which I bought 20 years ago

Yes but if you sold them 20 years from now think what the return would be then.

Big difference in risk premiums there, but it's your money and ultimately you can't take it with you.

Glad you found something to bring a smile to your face when you look at it Mark!

Good point. Though I cannot judge the appreciation for pocket knives.
