Yoga Anyone?
Howdy all,
So I know this is a site based upon our love of straight razors. But it seems we all have many different hobbies or interests.
So I was wondering if anyone out there partakes in a little yoga, or perhaps something similar.
Even if you haven't I'd still love to hear what you all have to say!Shaving_story on Instagram

Hi Basil,
I practice Yoga at home and take classes during the school year (which is the only time my teacher is able to get the room).
I'm adventitiously deaf and cannot read lips so I depend on sign language or writing for communication. I went a few times to a regular Yoga class but because I could not understand the teacher, the best I could do was to copy what the other students were doing. Then a few years ago I attended a Deaf Yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram in Woodbourne, New York. The teachers were a mix of signing Deaf and sign language interpreters (hearing people). I was fortunate that one of the teachers was local to me so I joined her class back home here. The class is taught in American Sign Language so at last I was able to participate and learn.
We discussed neti pots a couple of months ago if you'd like to check out the thread.
Namaste,
Morty -_-

i have always wanted to practice yoga regularly.. it is very popular in santa monica and there are a few places that go by donation.. unfortunately the top 2 percent of the most beautiful women in the world live here and i have a hard time not leering during class.. so i've avoided it so far.. perhaps someone could recommend a dvd for home use or something.

Tai Chi
Hi Basil,
My wife and sister are into Yoga...me, I am more of a Ta Chi (Chen and Yang styles) as well as the Cha Quan (meditation only) man. Been doing it for years now and love the Zen that it brings to my life. Maybe that's why I also like wetshaving.

Thanked: 77I taught yoga for 7 years, but stopped when I became a full time high school teacher (about 6 years ago).
I do the exercises only intermittently these days.
I still apply some of the philosophical principals of yoga and also some of the philosophy of parkour. (You can apply these prinicipals without needing to do physical feats).
Yes there is a lot of value in the practise of yoga and it can make a difference in your daily life. For me one aspect that is particularly powerful is developing self awareness in a very concrete physical sense. You can bring that mindful / aware approach to other importent aspects of your life... like shaving!!
All the best,
Michael

ive been going on and off for about five years now.
When in college i used to take classes regularly but after college i stopped going.
The past two years tho ive been going off and on to hot yoga.
If you havent tried it i say you should its fun and a great challenge. The room is heated up to around 105 and that and the exercises that you do make you sweat like a pig but when your done you feel great.Shaving_story on Instagram
