Any watch people? Looking for a new one
I'm not quite sure why, but I'm interested in buying a new watch. Currently, I have a Citizen 8700 - I really like it, I just want another (hopefully there is no AD coming on....). Budget is not huge; no more than $300. I don't have more than that to throw around, and I'm looking for something I can wear daily.
I want a lefthanded watch (crown on the left - 9 o'clock) - This is a must
I would prefer NOT having a metal bracelet
I would prefer numbers to Roman numerals on the face, but not a big deal
A rotating bezel would be nice, but not essential
Two that I like so far are the Invicta Lefty (2770 or 3332) and the Nixon 42-20 PU (I was thinking about the 51, but I know it's just way too big for me).Last edited by holli4pirating; 08-10-2010 at 02:14 PM.

I have two Bulovas and love them. Right in your price range as well.

Thanked: 983Geez your a nerd James.... I would go for a Traser H3 P6600 if I had that sort of ready cash to spend. You'd get one and a third watches with that fancy U.S dollar and that much to spend.

Crown on the left? You've just eliminated over 90% of the choices out there. In your price range I don't know. Most crown left watches are pretty specialized and cost way more than you want but check out Seiko.

Left crowns are very rare, especially at that price point.
Between the Invicta and the Nixon... I'd lean Nixon... but that is only my, like, my opinion.
Have you considered the 4 o'clock crown position given by the Seiko Black/Yellow/Orange Monster watches?... very comfortable on my wrist. The Seiko Monsters are probably the best bang for the buck watch in that price-range.
I also have several Oris dive watches with 4 o'clock crowns.. but those are out of the price range new. The TT3 diver has a 4 o'clock crown and (if lucky) could be found near 300 used.
There are several Panerai sterile-dial (Unbranded) clones available that are left hand crowned as well... but that watch style is a love it or hate it.

Are you a southpaw? Oh well. Like many things you like Dylan you may want to look vintage. Although many vintage watches pull big money, you do a little research and you'll find many makers who are under-rated (like many american razor makers) I've found a few myself. Remember that there is an antique shop option, then a cleaning; but like razors you can strike out.
I only own a handful of modern watches (and am far from a proficient source of knowledge). Mine are a bulova, citizen, seiko and even a lucien piccard (yes they do still exist). My vintage watch collection has been all but sold off, gotta pay the bills.

Oi-
I too like the styling of the Nixon more than the Invicta, but I'm not sure I like it twice as much (price comparison...)
I'd looked at the Seiko, but, to my eye, the bezel is too big for tha watch, and that is a turn off for me.
deigh-
No, I'm right handed. On my Citizen, the crown digs into the back of my hand. I've especially noticed it when I'm teaching, because I put my hands palms down on students desks a lot.
I have started to look at some vintage watches, but have only found the crazy expensive ones. U-Boats make me drool... I don't know enought about vintage, I don't know where to research them, and I don't know where I could buy one and know it would be reliable (the last thing I'd want to do is stretch the budget on the watch and then have to spend even more to fix it).
