I doubt that any will take the time to listen to these interviews with Stevie Ray Vaughn but here they are:

Roy-I'm sure you know that Stevie got clean right before his chopper met that mountain in the fog with Eric Clapton's band. I had a chance to see him here in Spartanburg just as he was getting big, and turned it down-working 2nd shift, and too conscientious to call in sick-I still kick myself over that.
But I can still have him Live at the El Mocambo (bet you've seen this too):

I don't think that any blues guitarist since his idol Hendrix blazed with such raw energy and intensity.
We just finally finished the mesmerizing Ken Burns Jazz documentary, so I have been torturing my students with that this week as they walk into class. (You'd be amazed how many really dig it!). But I just can't get enough of Louis Armtstrong's "Potato Head Blues":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7ccXJ0Y-CI
or Miles Davis"Kind of Blue":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ5uo9_OijY
or Charles Mingus's "Moanin'":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__OSyznVDOY
I swear if Ken Burns made a documentary on the history of paint drying, it would be fascinating.
Although these are not on the top of my list for personal preference I enjoy them.
I don't understand and can't have music playing in the background at work.
So many people do this and i cannot understand.
If it is good it distracts me and if it is junk it distracts me.
Feed Me - Whiskers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzo2JwF0N2c
"It's too piercing man" :roflmao
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-9h1pjTP74
Would quite expect dubstep to be irritating for most anyone over 40, especially this cut, but when I looked up and saw the title after randomizing on 70 Tidal songs, I chuckled and posted despite the slight irritation to me as well.
Never heard of Feed Me until this week, FWIW, but I enjoy listening to new music more than anything that’s been recycled to death on FM radio.
If your stereo lacks quality bass reproduction, then these woofer test tracks are best skipped. This is how I approached my first listening session after reading some review of a high-end portable digital music player where the reviewer mentions using Feed Me to test bass response.
I suspect you do not care for Radiohead in the slightest either, and that’s okay. With music, YMMV is a much larger issue than say with wet shaving I wager.
There is a great musical divide in my house between me (47) and my much better half (39). She would probably like this, while I'm with 32t, so you're probably on to something there! :rofl2:
That being said, I too love exploring new music, and generally prefer most anything to the over-produced stuff that program directors seem to favour. And one of the great things about music is that if you try something and it isn't to your liking, you'll never run out of alternatives to explore. YMMV indeed!

Jack Black rocks, and so does his son Sam for having developed the ability to endure a dad like this for 24/7/365.
:p
Feed Me - "I Do Coke"
At least the lyrics ought to earn an approving chuckle.$ Only need listen to less than a half-minute or so to get th gist of this dance tune.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSPT27XyY1U
$=? (i do coke,...so i can work longer,....so i can earn more,...so I can do more coke)
I can understand the lyrics and is the number one thing I look for in music.
Coca-Cola Amatil should use the track for an ad :roflmao
Most of these guys are creating music as one man synthesizer show, so lyrics may be sparse or missing entirely . Only a few of the songs from Feed Me had any lyrics, and that 'i do coke' one just cracked me up good.
On a related note, check out this technology. Teenage Engineering OP-1 from Sweden. $2,500 award-winning, portable synthesizer I ran across are article.

OMG, after watching the expert put this machine through its paces, I am astonished by the tactile focused design. Damn, no wonder it took so many awards.
Awesome device ! I wouldn't mind playing around with that.
Another really cool one worth checking out, Oz. Synthstrom Audible // Deluge.
Oh all those pretty colors. I want to delve into music here soon and thought about getting a Yamaha keyboard but THIS piece technological wizardly seems infinitely more appealing to the (computer) geek in me.
:p

You should check this one out as well. It's also from Teenage engineering.
One of the guys I used to hone for was into "Garage". Yes he was from UK :)
I was never into synth. music but I think I'm getting more open minded as I age :p
I like this one :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wl5BbUg05M
Yes, thanks DNM. I saw another one of these Pocket Operator videos hosted by Yuri Wong (the guy from the "I'm a Dude" demonstration with OP-1) where he demonstrate 2-3 models. Seems they have upwards of 9 different Pocket Operators, so naturally one would want all 9, right?
:)
Yes exactly :D
Never really paid much attention to this thread, as the feeling of relative youth led me to assume that the music I like would be out of place.
Some of the dub that I heard at Burning Man was great party music, especially when one is "feeling strange"..
I've got quite a range depending on my mood. Though at some point I began to turn away from music with negative lyrics... poor me, sad, angry, destructive etc etc all had to go!
Tools Lateralus album is a favorite of mine.
Classical music I play for my kids often, as I'm trying to create a solid musical base. My 3yr old loves Italian opera, it's her favorite! Female singers, she sings along, and it's the sweetest sound that I've ever heard.
Hey right on man!
I'll have to warn you..
Many Tool fans from earlier, were not happy with Lateralus and 10000 Days albums. IMO these fans were stuck in the same pattern and could not vibe with the new sounds and attitude coming from this incredible band. Tool had progressed to a different level in their personal lives, and so their music reflected that, also their musical ability grew immensely and this too is reflected in their music.
They are masters of build up and release. The music is also constructed in a way beyond the skills found by most. So even if one doesn't like the sound (I know I know, that's the point) a doctor of music would likely appreciate it's constructs.
I left all my CDs on shore on accident and in the middle of the Pacific ocean found this album tucked away. Only music for months at sea, PERFECT album for epic journeys!
Hooked ever since!
I do enjoy Tool. Great music. It's 10,000 Fists BTW. But who cares. Ha. Ive been ro king the hard stuff for years. Got hooked when Black Sabbath was played for me the first time. Its not for everyone. But i then started to get into the more exotic/detailed side of metal by enjoying Rush. Then I found Dream Theater and it blew me away.
So check them out too Mark. And Mike T., glad to know your a brother in Metal as well as the Blade.
Since i started driving for this new company and they are so laid back, its much easier. No push or hurry hurry. They are happy with my abilities and dont rush me at all. So ive been changing to more of the classic rock stations. Who would have guessed the music i grew up with is now classic. Ha.
Be sure to share some youtube vids of what you find in the rock line of music.
BTW, in Dream Theater nobody has the right amount of strings on the guitars. Ha.
You and me, Jerry. I even spent a few years as a drum roady. I got to set up the cage, position and tune the drums, for a band called Kidd Wicked.
Miss the back stage stuff we did with the groupies. :nj
Thats funny Mike. As i was a drummer in my youth. Got my first guitar at age 7. Taught by the legendary Ernist Tub. If anyone knows who that is. Lol.
Oh Hell Yes! I for one know who the 'Texas Troubadour' was!
Here's a song by a guy who at times can sound like ET and the songs about ET:

Okay, it's been raining and foggy to beat all hell here all day (like every day this winter, alas). Somehow, if we're going dark, this seems appropriate:

As far as I'm concerned, Black Sabbath were the founding fathers of metal. Funny-last week I was all about jazz. Some of us have pretty eclectic tastes, huh?
?Black Sabbath disappeared????????????
So much music is 20 seconds or less long and repeated to get to 3.5 minutes.:td
I love Meatloaf, too-talk about intense performances!
While my friend Tim has provided the audio--let's see the Big Boy Himself perform back in the day---Video Style--
I once heard an interview with him and apparently he'd been in some kind of musical production and he said "Yea everybody wanted to come see the fat boy in tights"--

One of the best songs and videos of all time. IMHO.
Here's something a bit different I think. Though I suggest good speakers, some music sounds good on anything but some needs good speakers to really get the whole experience.
The first is called The Pot, from Tools 10000 Days album.
The second is Lateralus from the Lateralus album.
They usually have strange videos. Most usually don't like their music, I think partly because it departs from the "radio music" that many are used to.. IMO
Now let me see if this works, don't know if video will show up but the link should work.

My parents loved two different styles of music. My dad was a Bluegrass fan/however he would say that what was called 'Bluegrass' was what he grew up on and listened to being played in Barn Dances. In fact dad said that his father would offer housing and breakfast to the guys who played at the dances as long as they would play after breakfast. With that said, dad loved Hank Williams! He got to see him play in Spokane WA along with Roy Acuff/dad said it was supposed to be a dance but as he would tell time and again "Dance my ass, it was like a sardine can in there".
Mom loved 'Boogie Woogie' and Glen Miller's 'In the mood' was her favorite song and I had it played at the end of her services.
While they 'preferred' different styles they both would dance to both so for both of them I present this/a recent rendition of a classic swing song:

Just picked up a mildly-scratched original copy of this album for $1 at a local used record store, and I've been listening to it all evening. Really, a great dollar spent!
