I am feeling a little bit nostalgic today. This song is such an earworm once I start humming it.... well it just hangs around.

I've followed the career of guitarist Fred Frith since the 1970's, his latest band, Cosa Brava, is well worth listening to:

Ironically, John Hoosier Mellencamp's small town (Seymour, IN) isn't far from my Dad's small town (Dana, IN)

This morning I was watching some videos on Youtube, and soon I found myself taking a stroll down memory lane, watching video after video that have had some kind of significance in my life and thought why not share a few with my SRP friends?
First one is from one of my favorite artist trough all time, a brilliant Norwegian guitarplayer named Marius Müller.
I had the pleasure to meet him a couple times before he died way too early in a car accident on Mach 14th 1999 at the age of 40.
This song is called "Carmen" and is IMHO one of the most beautiful songs ever made. I believe most Norwegians between 30 and 60 have made out to this song at least once :)

Next one is from my childhood, this was a popular childs program on TV when I was a kid, the song is from Labetuss's birthday, which is the same as mine, we were "born" on the same day, 18th December 1978

Last one is from the first record I bought of my own money, I think I was five years old, and they've been with me ever since.

Anyone else got music memories like this?
Allman Brothers Live at Filmore East- What an absolutely outstanding album, what a remarkable bunch of musicians!

End of the day, peaceful, heartfelt singer "Rumer" is her name.
Listening to Rush's "Clockwork Angels." Those Canadian boys still rock!
Since my son born last Friday I need something calming down and relaxing:-)

This guy was absolutely the man. Any discussion of all time best guitar players is complete crap if the name Andres Segovia doesn't appear near the top.

I am cleaning house, this is music that keeps me moving.

Enjoying a big plug of Red Man, listening to some hysterical 80's tunes, waiting on the Rays game at 1:30 against the Tigers of Detroit (hopefully it turns out better than last night's game). Remember these?

Contemplating whether to take the 5th and 6th off and call it a 5 day weekend. That's sounding pretty good right now.
Listening to Sorrow by Jake Mattison.
Daft Punk - Alive 2007
most of the music I listen to is when I'm tucked up drifting off to sleep, this might be a bit out there but I have Louis Victoria's 1605 requium in my CD player right now.
Lotta people might find it morbid, I find it really soothing, and unlike a lot of later requiums (requia?) it incorporates a lot of Gregorian chant which is pretty cool.
Officium defunctorum, I love it. :)
Victoria Requiem 1605 - (1) Introit - YouTube
Rage Against the Machine- Killing in the Name (trying to get psyched up for PT). Think I'll go bad mouth America and the inherent inequities of the capitalist system politically these guys are completely off the chain but I dig their music just the same.
The Fourth gets me in a nostalgic mood.
This guy, Jamey Johnson, is a country singer to whom many draw comparisons with Waylon Jennings. Though I hesitate to compare anyone to Waylon Jennings, Jamey Johnson is, I believe, one of the guys country music needs to look to in order to find itself again, so to speak.
As an added bonus, this particular song is nostalgic itself.

GREAT TUNE! One of my favorite modern country songs. I like this guy's style. He has that good "Old Country" sound like Waylon or George Jones. Most of the modern stuff has taken on a far too pop music leaning for my tastes but this is a fantastic performance of a wonderfully written song.
Have a great 4th!
Los Lobos Grateful Dead This Land is Your Land 07-02-1989 - YouTube
BBC Pod cast.
Two of my favorite tunes of all time
Jackson Browne - These Days - YouTube
I've come to the conclusion that you can't listen to Bob Marley's music and not smile
Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry (Live) - YouTube
I love Bob Marley 1OldGI. : )
Listening to Luciano Pavarotti "Duets"
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That **** Gold
Slug is one of my favorite artists. So far beyond today's Top 40 "hip-hop". Storytelling at its finest.
Skinny Puppy - So far today I've listened to The Greater Wrong of the Right, hanDover, and am part way through Mythmaker. Just that kind of day.
Getting psyched for PT. Listening to Prodigy- Smack my B**ch Up. Not my normal taste in music but a catchy tune just the same.
Anyone going to the Rockstar Mayhem fest this year?
One of my favorite songs in the world. Billy Joel is a true artist.
