Such a sad end to a beautiful career.
Linda Ronstadt - "I've Got A Crush On You" HQ - YouTube
Sheesh - all this takes me back to when I was a radio announcer in the 80's!! Great job, no stability and very little pay! But radio meant something back then, you actually had to know the music (and there was music then) and Linda was fantastic.
I'll never forget what she did for Lowell George, whom she considered a one of the greatest song writers ever. She did a tribute concert for his family when he died. One of the few who could sing a Little Feat song and give the magic his lyrics demanded.

She truly is one of the greatest!!
Thanks DGillon!
Was one of the greatest. Just announced that she has Parkinsons and can no longer sing. End of a career.
Linda Ronstadt Discloses Her Battle With Parkinson’s Disease – AARP
Yes, heard about the diagnosis.
She still is one of the greatest, and she is starting a new, challenging chapter in her life. She has to live with the Parkinson's, and as my nurse wife explains, she, or any one else with life changing conditions, doesn't have to let it define them.
It may be the end of her music career, but it's also the beginning of a new path in her life. All the best to her...
Been listening to a jethro tull song that I have completely fallen in love with. It's "one brown mouse" off of the album heavy horses.

Remember seeing these guys in the late 70's. I used to be quite the accomplished guitar player, great song using an open tune, my son can play it better than I can:

This was my morning shave song!
Have been really hung up on some classic metal lately. UFO has been in my head, and on my YouTube playlist, along with my Pandora station list.
I saw a reference to math music this morning, I had never heard of it. Now I have gone down the rabbit hole looking for examples of it. I have always been intrigued by different time signatures and out of the ordinary (quirky) melodies.

I am kind of fascinated with this song, most of the song is kinda blah but I am really enjoying the chorus/breaks where the fox sings. Sometimes pop music is kinda of fun.

As I do from time to time, I've been thinking about my home town quite a bit lately. It's funny how places can get their hooks into you. Even after having moved many times, Winnipeg will always be home to me. I miss the sky out there, my friends and family, burgers from Blondies, even the winter. And I miss its great arts/music scene. And since these are in my head, they might as well be in yours...
My friend Greg MacPherson. One of the great things about knowing an artist well is the privilege to see the evolution of the art. Back in the late 90s Greg released an album with a track called 'Genuinely Frozen' that had a line '...get out from under these broken dreams outside.' Fast forward a few years and his shows usually featured a jam in the middle where he just riffed on that line for a while. Fast forward again to 2010 and the fully formed track 'Broken Dreams'. Sadly no youtube version available without wonky levels.

Normally at this point I'd jump straight to Neil Young, but since I'm still bummed out about his show being cancelled here last week, I'll throw in some of his buddies from back in the day. The Guess Who.

Since I'm in an Allman Brothers mood tonight, here's two of my favorites. Dicky Betts is just a beast. He's an old man now in his seventies but still tours and can still knock the tar out of anyone on lead guitar.

I remember my big brother having both of these songs on 45s and nearly wearing the grooves off of the records. I heard Bobby Gentry on the radio yesterday so I got nostalgic and dug out some old recordings.
I remember he also used to play the American Breed Bend Me Shape Me and The Archie's Sugar Sugar till our ears bled. I will spare you and me from those songs, they stil drive me crazy.
