Vintage Binoculars

I have a soft spot for vintage binos. Found these at a local Value Village. Nikon 8X30 porro prism binos with case in excellent plus condition. These are early 1950s production, I believe. I also have one of the last series of porro prism binos Nikon made, 8X32 SE. The vintage pair are very good even compared with the 55 year or so newer ones. Both are excellent compact walking around walking around binos.

nice score, where was these when I was needing a new set? by the way the Zeiss are working reall good.. good call Bob, now I may need to get some advise on a nice camera and lense that would be good for outdoor hooting in big country Tc

Thanks. It's been so long since I looked at camera gear the world has moved on and left me behind. Been 9 years since I bought any camera gear.

I have the same model as you but mine are from the early 70s with a 585 thousand serial number. Your's are way better than mine. Mine just says Nikon and those were degraded the same as when they switched the camera lenses and some said Nikor and Some said Nikon. The Nikor were way better.

These were my grandfathers. Gotta be around 60+years old, I think..

Your Value Village is clearly better than anything around these parts!! Very nice find.

I've been looking for something like this for quite a while, but no luck so far. The search continues...

I aint buying it Bob,, I think your knowledge of optics, rifles and photo gear are way above average. myself I don't know anything about cameras, I have a 10 year old Elf, and I spend so much time glassing the area that I,m in all the time, watching the wildlife I was thinking I could get some better pictures with the right equipment, my knowledge of lenses is zero.. and these shots are usually a ways off Tc

TOTALLY ignorant about optics. Little experience at all.
Bob's are 5X30. Mine are 7X50.

On Bob's it says 8.5 degrees

On mine it says 372 ft at 1000 yds?
