You are lucky to have the life circumstances to be able to do this. Enjoy.

I had a couple of beagles years ago. It is a great way to hunt! Thanks for posting. (My Scottie Terrior liked your video too!)

Running beagles in the warm season must result in some major chigger and tick issues!

thanks matt. taking the hounds out for run is something i really enjoy.
this time of year we go before daylight and get 3 or 4 hours in before it gets to warm. really like running a pack of hounds. its in the upper 90`s this week so we may not go. hope it cools down. and the skeeters do get pretty bad. ticks are down this year. dave

My first beagle lived about 12 years of which I remember the following events:

    1. Hit by a car bad enough to require a long stay at the vet.
    2. Took a #4 shotgun pellet in the back of the head. Didn't even slow down the hunt.
    3. Chased a cat into a storm sewer in town. Didn't get him back until three weeks later.
    4. Turned up missing for a month. Got him back from folks that lived 30 miles away. (They put a "found" notice in the paper.)
    5. Chased after deer in the woods a time or two and I didn't think I'd ever see him again.
    6. When he was allowed to run free, he would chase rabbits in the briars all day and come home crawling from exhaustion.

    Man I miss that dog!

man that sounds like one heck of a dog. i have had hounds for over 30 years and still rememeber my first one. she was going to be culled at 7 months old becuse she did not run bunnys. i talked the guy out of her and had her chasing bunnys in 2 weeks. he tryed to buy her back but no way i had her till she died at 12. still miss her but she got me started on my love for beagles. i have had my up and downs with them. but man i got to always have them. me and a good friend went in on them about 20 years ago and we split the costs. they are not house dogs but we have nice kennels for them and we also put in heaters for cold winter nights. we have 5 right now and they all love to run bunnys. we have no deer runners. we break them from that. we are infested with deer. dave

Beagles are about the best dog in the world, fun, affectionate, loyal and they can earn their own keep. Yours were beautiful when and where I could see them, they seemed to be very enthusiastic about the chase!
