Cuban cigars?
I recently heard a rumor that in Canada (Toronto
maybe?) there is a tobacconist that either imports
Cuban tobacco and makes their own brand-name, or
maybe even imports Cuban cigars and re-brands them.
In either case, they are rumored to be legal to import
into the U.S.
Does anyone have any information about this?
Thanks,
Paul

Frank Correnti cigars. Been there a few times, great folks and roll a good cigar. Is it made with the best tobacco? I don't think so. Can they be brought into the US? I don't think so.
Send them an email, I'm sure they'll have answers for you.

If he is getting Cuban tobacco, which is possible, it will most definitely not to the same quality tobacco used by Habanos S.A. in their official release product especially wrapper leaf. The only good tobacco leaving Cuba is provided to rollers/blenders who tour the world making special presentations at Casa del Habanos exclusively.
This sort of thing has been done before in Tenefire. That guy used Cuban tobacco manufacturered for cigarettes and rolled it into cigars using Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The results were less than spectacular.
Give them a try, who knows.

Thanked: 4I know that you can go to a website and purchase Cuban cigars. I have a few friends that smoke nothing but Partagas. I can let you know what the site is if you want. I believe that the deal is that they ship from Switzerland where it is legal to purchase the Cuban cigars, and then they ship to the U.S. but that aside, I know that they have no issues getting them. Personally I'll stick with my pipe.

The law in Switzerland has changed. Used to be a time when they'd list the contents as something other than cigars. Now they've clamped down and Customs is getting really picky. Some people I know have gotten letters from Customs, asking if they want their paqckage.

For you lovers of Cuban leaf there is a great forum www.internationalcigarclub.com that can not only provide you with the best possible education on Cuban cigars from pre-embargo to present day it is populated with some extremely knowledgeable members and several would class retailers. The same level of brotherhood and commitment you find here on SRP you will find on ICC. You would be welcome, you have to register to view, feel free to use lz6 as a reference. And for you gentlemen considering Swiss suppliers be aware that the overwhelming majority of Swiss suppliers are "gray market" sellers, in otherwords their cigars while they may be legit are not purchased from authentic Habanos distributors.
