    Default Balisong

If you don't know what a balisong is, another name that you might know is the butterfly knife. My brother's girlfriend had this old butterfly comb and it was awesome to play with. But I didn't know how to open it and close really cool. SO the first place i go is of course youtube. I saw a whole bunch of vids and i want to get into it. I was just wondering if anyone has any balisongs (extras maybe?) Does anyone flip balisongs? Its awesome and it looks like a lot of fun.

i had a few of the single edged ones as a kid and was pretty good.. or i thought i was till i tried a double sided blade and nearly lost an index finger.

they are illegal in california and i'm unsure where to even buy them.. but either way... be careful.. and any butterfly knife you buy for 20 dollars will probably be pretty unsafe. so watch out.

I had several, years ago prior to them being outlawed here. I used them a lot for martial arts back then. When I wasn't being a juvenile delinquint with them anyway. I do remember a time when, leaning against a wall in a laneway while waiting for a mate, I had one in each hand and continuously flipping them in a variety of patterns. Scared a few passersby I daresay, but I was young and ignorant back then. Wouldn't do it these days.

I got so fast with my Balisong I could beat my dad with a real switchblade.

I did cut myself pretty badly when I was first learning to use it. I recommend taping the edge of the blade while learning.

i hace the same one I had whenI was 13..I gave it to my son when he turned 14. They are fun and totaly worthless as a knife. I put them in the nun chuk category...fun to look at until you whack yourself. and virtaually worthles as a weapon

i have gone through a few in my time, i was pretty good them at one point (could never do two at a time though, i still get scared just shaving with my left hand). i always plan on buying a new one but just never get around to it. the basics are pretty easy to learn.

    Absolutely essential to avoid injury.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
