Default Anyone use a filtered pipe?

I was wondering if anyone swears by the filtered pipes and what the difference or advantage is. If so, what are some reputable brands to try out?

I don't like them. They can take out/ change a lot of flavor, IMO. I think filtering becomes much less critical when, as with a pipe, you are not inhaling directly the smoke.

    YMMV!

Same here. I have one pipe with option to use filter but i let that option unused.
Nothing wrong to use filter. I just think that they are not so important with pipes as they are with cigarettes.

I appreciate the input.....I was thinking along those lines but after watching some videos on Youtube I thought perhaps I've been missing out on something. If your not inhaling much than whats the point, seems like it would effect the flavor of your blends.

I've never owned a filter pipe, and see no need for them. They may cool the smoke some, I guess, but I would think the draw would be difficult.

I have a few Kaywoodies with the metal stinger, and that is quite enough.

Stanwell....makes a 9mm filtered pipe that is great! Say what you want about filters, but when I pull that yellowed brown filter out I am glad that stuff didn't get in my mouth....I like 'em!

    I also use filtered pipes.
By my mind, you can get a lot of brands of good filters, that have no influence at the flower.

    regards

I have a filtered pipe, but don't use the filters. I don't inhale so I don't see the point...

I have a Medico that takes the same filters. I do notice some subtle differences in taste, but not enough to be distracting. Being a former cigarette smoker I will occassionally inhale, so that's when I will notice the taste difference the most. I do find that I have to lop about a 1/4" off the filter to improve the draw.

Here are a couple of good articles. The first on filters themselves and the second in response to some of the people who don't see the point:
