    Default 1912 vintage rifle

I have been trying to source a bolt for an old Belgium made single shot .22 that was made in 1912. Today I thought my luck was in. I made another of my rare inquiries at the local gun shop and the bloke said "You know I think we might just have one of those out the back!" He went to have a look and about five minutes later he returned with what I had only ever seen in pictures...A bolt for a Belgium .22 Brevete SGDG Model E 1912...Or so I thought. It wasn't until I got home and was able to attach it to the rifle that I found it was the right style but very obviously the wrong model...Ah well, I'll just have to go back and get my money back I think. The search continues...

You might also try The Gun Parts Corp., it used to be Numrich Arms Corp., parts division.

I came across that in my early searches too Bazz. I haven't tried the Gun parts Corp avenue. That's a new one. I have searched GunBrokers dot com every so often. Thanks for the ideas and help Gents...I sort of consider this one a long term project one way or the other. I just really want to know how this old bird will shoot and being small enough, it would also make a great learner rifle when my girls are older...Provided I have found success by then. Otherwise the search will continue and they will just have to learn on a new single shot bought specially for the purpose closer to the time.

the sad thing is there was probly 100's of those rifles floatin round aussie homes but due to buy backs and amnesties they become scarce , I'd ph around gunsmiths and hopefully ya get lucky and get a bolt no paperwork ..I rekon if ya find one with a dealer you'll need to buy the gun for the bolt then need permit to accuire ect

Hey thanks for that Bazz...I'm a day ahead of ya though. I sent an email yesterday to enquire about it. Wished I had have found that one a year ago myself. For some reason I tend to avoid that dealer...Probably because of all his hype and self inflicted bad public image in the media back in 1996. Goes to show, should never avoid dealing with someone just because you don't see eye to eye on some issues.
With regards to buying the rifle just for the bolt...That's just not a viable option. You can still find rifles the same as or very similar to the one described, but because of the rarity, you pay way more than what they are worth. And with the added cost of all the fees for application permit for permits and then permits themselves, it just blows the cost out of the water. I could go and buy a brand new Stevens .22 for less even with the paper work cost. The best bet is a change of luck and locating a bolt to fit...Even if it never happens, it'll be something to look forward to...
