    Default Smoking Room Follow-up

    Good morning Group,

Early in the spring, I wrote a post about an idea I had for a 4 seasons room to enjoy the rain in, avoid mosquitoes in, and to have someplace for winter pipe smoking.

My problem was that I did not have 42 inch deep footings to build on, but a slab instead. Knowing the slab would heave from the winter frost, I devised channels for the top and side wall edges to ride instead of anchoring it.

So here is what it looks like nearly complete. I removed one of the side moldings at the top above the door so you can see the channel. I need to stuff insulation in the channel yet and put on a coat of stain.

Like everything, there are some things I would have changed - but all and all it came out pretty good. The real test will be this winter to see if I left enough height in the channels so the walls don't blow themselves apart.

There is also a pic of my back yard from the view of the room.

    David

Looks cool mate. If I lived there I would be in danger of smoking more than just at poker nights.

Would love to sit in there when it's raining.

How many will your room hold, David? We might have a trans-Atlantic meet in the making here!

It is not that large. It is 10 x 12 feet. Four comfortably - then of course my cat always has to join us.

You must have scenic views in the winter with the snow. Nice Man Cave!

Yes, it's beautiful in the winter. I really like sitting in the hot tub in the winter with a nice snow falling and a glass of brandy warming in the hot water.

Sometime there are deer walking around back there as well.

Thats fine David. You, me, Ben and a seat left over for the cat!

I'll bring a few bottles of whiskey, my pipe and baccy plus some cigars. I reckon we could while away a few very enjoyable hours that way..!
