Bowling
Well, I finally went bowling....the real kind of bowling....with the big a#% balls....It was great!!
So, there i was, sitting in an AMF alley, sipping my white russian (big lebowski homage, maybe? ) the couple next to us were friendly, and where giving me pointers all night. The husband says he has an old ball in his car he doesn't use any more, and asks if i want to use it instead of the lane balls.
I say sure, if it's no trouble. so he goes out, is gone a few minutes, and returns with this classic bowling bag. i open it up, and this big, beautiful, cliche 70's 15 pounder is sitting in there. so i bowl my last string and a half with it, and am getting ready to take off, and go to hand the ball back, and he refuses me. he says "i don't need it, hang on to it."
I am now the proud owner of a vintage Sears bowling ball of mysterious provenance! the folks at sears CS said it isn't in their records, which go back to 1987, so it's at the very least that old.
Anyways, i know they won't ever read this, but i just want to add a huge thank you to Kris and Mike for great conversation, and a very generous gift!
