IME Beretta makes a good gun but the triggers are not to my liking. Although it is as ugly as sin dipped in misery if I only had one gun for all around shooting and self defense it would be my Glock 23 in .40 S&W caliber. A Glock 17 in 9mm is also quite good with the 17 round magazines and 9mm is much cheaper than .40. I'm sure others will have recommendations.
