Fender Precison 51 and 62 Reissues
Fellow bass players,
I just purchased two of my all time favorite basses, the American Vintage 62' Reissue and the Fender Japan 51' Reissue. The 62' is band spankin new and the 51' is used but in brand new condition.
I have previously been and Fender Jazz Bass "only" guy. I have three 62' reissues. One American 62 in tinted Olympic White, a Japanese 62 in Surf Green and a Japanese 62 in Fiesta Red.
But I had to round out with the Precisions. God bless Leo Fender!
I am looking at the possibility of a Fender Bassman TV 15 - sweet dreams.

I take it your a Fender-man? Haha
I've looooong wanted a 51...but I've never even gotten to play one. Do you get along with flatwounds?
If you'll expand it include other Leo Fender basses....I'd consider myself a Fender fan as well. (Specifically the MusicMan and G&L) I still remember the best live tone (to my tastes at least) was a G&L L-2000 with EB slinkys through a power amp, alesis 15-band equalizer, and dbx rack compressor all through a 2x10 Eden cab. This back in the days when I thought it was all in the equipment and that's why I remember i so well.
Funny part is, I haven't bought any of those components save for the strings since then.
Oh well,
Maybe I'll hit the jackpot and by a L-2000 and '51 together?

I've always had a sweet spot for a '62 Fender Jazz Bass.
Those things are so nice, they play all by themselves.
Congrats on rounding out your collection.
You have some nice instruments there.

The fender precision bass on the first picture is just like the one Roger Waters plays on Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii's performance of Echoes, probably the best single track on their long and ilustrious musical career. I can just hear the sound it makes... Love it! If I could get my hands on a bass... it would be it.

Good Man!
I Have a black Stingray with maple neck/board. Fretted, but with Chrome Flatwounds. Keep meaning to try groundwounds on it, and can't decide if I want to turn it or my late 90's (good) Peavey Cirrus into a fretless.
I bought the Stingray as a last minute "I need to replace the Cirrus...today" purchase. I didn't know if I'd really like it or not, but I now prefer it....which reminds me I still need to track down the ground/buzz in the Cirrus.

Carvin Doubleneck
I bought my Carvin 640 Doubleneck in 1983. After being asked if I play bass in the few bands I was in, and mostly being a guitar player, I figured I would get this doubleneck with the guitar and bass. I would run this through my Peavy Musician head with a 4x12 cabinet for the guitar and a 2x15 cabinet for the bass. It's been over 20 yrs. since I played in a band. I miss them days.
The bass is made from Koa wood with gold plated hardware.

Oh that's nice!
I understand what you mean about missing those days.
I went through about a 9 year dry spell where I barely picked up my bass. I thought by bass playing days were behind me and I was going to sell everything. Then I got involved in my Church's praise band and play every weekend, two services. We read charts and hardly play the same song twice. It really rekindled my interest.
That spawned me starting a blues band that is now gigging quite often. My bass playing is the best its ever been and I could not be happier.
