Default 5000 year old bison skull

A friend of mine dug this out of a sand bank on the Arkansas River near Tulsa not too long back, this was the first of two full skulls that he has unearthed. The river sand gave it the golden patina that you see, and he has added a clear coat in order to preserve it.

The difference between a modern day bison and this one is the way the horns are set. Modern day bisons horns are set at an angle more towards the front, while their predecessors are straight up.

This one has wound up in my buffalo collection (I have a buffalo robe or winter hide, and quite a number of figurines.
