Default Beer and hard cider homebrewing

I have ordered a homebrewing kit and just waiting for it to arrive so I can give it a try!
Since I am sharing an appartment with a bunch of other guys I have ordered a set with a one gallon carboy, it is just not room for anything bigger.
I am going to make the beer using the all grain method as it seems like the most fun and might give hard cider a try too.

Anyone in here who have got some good advice?

There's always room for bigger. I love home brewing. I'd go with a 5 gallon carboy and stick with the extract brewing. You can buy kits at your local shop. Extract brewing gets you where you want to be. Your can play around much easier to get the different flavors you want. Shoot me a message if you need any help. I'd be glad to offer...

As a home brewer of some 30 years, I'dadvise that you start off with a couple of extract kits before moving onto a full mash brew. Then do all the research you can via the net prior to attempting a full mash brew.TBH Homebrew isn't worth doing in any less than 5 gal amounts.
Good luck and happy brewing and dinking!

    1) sanitize.... keep things clean as heck.

    2) do not cork or cap a bottle that is not intended for the pressure.

    flyboy,

One thing to note with making beer from cracked malt is the boiling with the hops; to acheive maximum extraction from the hops and the 'hot-break' it takes a fair time and an awful lot of steam is generated in the process - the place will smell of hops for quite a while afterwards

More so if you go for 5 gallon brew sizes !

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Thanks a lot for the offer!
But I am living in Oslo at the moment, so Porsgrunn is going to be a bit far.
