Favorite movie.
Hello everyone. I've seen threads on everything from beer to babies but I havn't seen one on movie. I know I'm not the only movie lover around so shout out some of your favorites, classic or new, original or remake, throw them out there. Mine would have to be
- Arsonic and Old Lace with Carry Grant
-Shooter with Mark Walberg
- The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance with John Wayne and Jimmy StewartLast edited by Devilpup; 04-30-2011 at 04:02 AM.

Off the top of my head I'd say "Casablanca", "Vertigo", and "The Searchers".
Great topic btw.
Also want to add "Anatomy of a Murder", "Touch of Evil", "Night of the Hunter", and "Life of Brian".Last edited by Theseus; 04-30-2011 at 02:28 PM. Reason: added content

The one I always start with is "The Big Lebowski". There will be more to follow as I think.

Thanked: 1185I'm an absolute movie freak and could probably rattle off at least 100 movies that I would consider my favorites. I won't though, here's a five in each category that I really like:
Westerns
The Searchers- John Wayne flick probably one of the best westerns ever made
Tombstone- Great Moustache Movie
Broken Trail- Robert Duvall has never been in a bad movie
Rio Lobo- Another John Wayne Movie with Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson. Ann Margaret gives Dean Martin a straight shave in this movie.
Any Clint Eastwood Western- Pale Rider and Unforgiven are great as are Joe Kidd and most of his so called Spaghetti Westerns (i.e. Fist Full of Dollars, Hang'em High, Good the Bad and the Ugly, etc.)
Drama
The Grapes of Wrath-The old version with Henry Fonda playing Tom Joad
To Kill a Mockingbird-I'm always amazed by the scene in the courtroom where there's a spitoon under the attourney's table.
Schindler's List-A touching and very complicated story, great writing
A Time to Kill-John Grisham writes some pretty good stuff in general but it's always nice to see a lawyer move on to making an honest living.
Shawshank Redemption
OK, six in this category. Got to add Papillion
Action
Braveheart- This movie just plain rocks! This is the quintessential guy movie. If you don't own this you probably should and if you haven't seen this yet, shame on you. Turn in your straight razors and resign from the male gender
Vietnam Movies- The best of these IMHO is We Were Soldiers but I like all of them, Platoon, Hamburger Hill, Full Metal Jacket, and of course the Green Berets
Ben Hur- This movie just kicks a$$ if you dig action movies this is a must see
Saving Private Ryan- A great new twist on war movies adequately brutal but at the same time touching. Great writing here too.
Bridge On the River Kwai- A great story
Comedy
Forrest Gump- I don't understand why this wouldn't make everyones favorite movies list
Planes Trains and Automobiles- Steve Martin and John Candy are a great team and this movie is absolute comedy gold
The Waterboy- I like most of Adam Sandler's stuff but the Waterboy might be his best from the angle of just mindless ridiculous lampooning comedy
All the Classics- Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, 3 Stooges, Marx Brothers, love them all!
Will Farrell Flicks- Love all his stuff especially Anchor ManThe older I get, the better I was

Thanked: 983Wow, so many good ones that it's hard to list them all. Just some of the top of my head I suppose:
Lord of the rings series
Braveheart.
Harley Davidson and the Marlborough man.
All versions of Robin Hood including 'Men in tights'.
Rob Roy.
Shooter.
Sniper.
Tomb raider.
Zorro, all versions.
The count of Monte Cristo, all versions.
Indiana Jones series.
There would be more but that is off the cuff.

Gotta be "Forrest Gump", "Back to the Future" (Two Robert Zemeckis movies right away) and "Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels". There's a lot of other stuff that I like tho, too much to write down, but these are my top three.
