I have about 1000 LPs left. My wife talked me into selling a couple of thousand years ago to finance my high end digital play back hardware. Big mistake. Currently listening to a Pro-Ject RM5.1 turntable. That same wife can tell from other rooms in the house if it is vinyl or digital playing and she much prefers the vinyl as do I.

Thanked: 79Man, if there's one small regret I have in life it's letting go of several hundred records back in the 80's - CDs started coming out, and I bought in hook, line and sinker. Then went all digital in the 90s. Thought that was the cat's meow... Then I started realizing just how poor some of my digital music sounds when played on really good systems, and started going the "lossless" route. Now I'm into hi-res audio (DVD Audio and SACD), and just wish I'd kept my f***ing records!!!
Granted, records do take more space and maintenance, and need pretty high-end equipment to really shine, but when they do, for me it's still the best overall sound in recorded music (maybe just short of 96/24 digital masters).
ETA: Interesting article on sound quality here - http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57...=2547-1_3-0-20Last edited by HamburgO; 02-01-2012 at 03:28 AM.

I have (3), a DUAL 502, Sansui SR-525, and a monster Pioneer direct-drive from the 70's.
That's the one I use most but I've not tweaked to the degree it needs.
