Thread: Kids

...It's Father's day here in Australia, and by the Google logo I gather also in many other bits of the globe. Surely kids count as one of the 'finer things in life'?

A difficult day for me, with my 4 year old Grandson struggling with his chemotherapy and operation on two limbs to combat his bone cancer. The turmoil to one's life that that brings is astounding. You don't get it until it happens to you.

I've always felt that just being a [good] father is one (if not the most) of the finer things in life.

Today I was alive, today was Spring, today I got to spend the day with all my children and my grandson, today I made a date with my older son to teach him to shave with a straight razor next Sunday. If he learns, and if he wants, I'll give him my Emil Kronenberg, thereby solving the 'what to do with the fourth razor considering a three razor case' dilemma in a win-win sort of way.

If all fathers today, from now on, now, could only love, only love, instead of fighting and hating and shooting and bombing, I'm sure we'd all enjoy many a more year of the finer things in life...Like Sting said; "Don't the Russians love their children too", or words to that effect...
