Thanked: 2Hello,
There are basically two types of American Bulldogs, the Johnson bloodline and the Scott bloodline. My dog comes from the Johnson bloodline. They are usually over 100lbs, have a heavier bone structure, more wrinkles on the face and body, a huge head and neck, and overall a stronger build. The Scotts usually dont get larger then 110lbs , have a smaller frame, a lot less wrinkles and excess skin, smaller head and neck. Think of the Johnson as the heavyweight boxer with a killer knockout punch. The Scott is the light heavyweight boxer that has a good strong punch but can go 12 rounds.
If your thinking about getting one learn the breed. They are a lot of dog to handle and very protective of there family. My dog has never showed any aggression but just like pit bulls they were bred for fighting and bull/bear baiting. I cant emphasize enough how strong they are. People use them in weight pulling competitions and as a farm dog. They've been used more recently as pig hunting dogs too. When I walk him some people are afraid because hes so big but after a second of meeting him they fall in love. American Bulldogs are the most loving and sweet dogs Ive ever interacted with. Most of them are giant lap dogs. From the time I get home mine doesn't like to leave my side. Hes not annoying like some dogs can be but likes to just hang out with his master. Let me know if you want more info on the bread.
Have a good one,
Chris

Since I was a kid in love with planes I've wanted a Bull Terrier just like yours. It took me maybe five or six years to find out what kind of dog the Baa Baa Black Sheep mascot on TV was (which of course I watched just for the 90 seconds per show of Corsairs flying) and since then I've so wanted one.
I'm dogless, and I've always been. My kid and wife have owned cats, but with the passing of the last one we've decided to stay free range for now.
And it's a good thing, we may get a high strung cat like LinacMan's and we'd be in trouble.

My beloved creatures
What a great thread!!
I love seeing all those beautiful dogs, thanks guys.
Here's a few of mine.
First there is Harley, a fairly big Great Dane. This guy was thick as wood, a big goof, but with the biggest of hearts. I miss him every single day.
I'm 6'5" so as you can see, not exactly a petite dog
And then there is Sara. Harley's sister and master! She died a while back, lasted a couple years longer than Harley. I have had dogs in my entire life, but this lady was "the love of my life".
We shared so much, and had so many great times together.
To fill the space of the previous two, this guy has joined our family.
His name is Oscar (de La Hoya) and is a tad smaller
He was born late May this year.
As someone said on here, it is not a Jack Russel terrier, it is a Jack Russell Terrorist.
I can see what he meant now...
Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Here's our GSD Kalona. She is turning one here in a few days. Smarter than hell and an amazing escape artist! She's attached to my wife like Velcro and loves the kids. She never barks or growls at my littlest one, even when he pulls an ear or bites a tail.
