currently have a few favourites: brietling datori navitimer,( great looking watch ), tag heur Monaco ( Steve McQueen ), Festina vera pelle ( ltd edition ) and a Tissot. ( all mechanical models).
Brietling is my favourite and would hope to purchase the new world timer when pennies get saved.
I have an Omega Seamaster with the blueface and the autochronomatric movement (meaning your movements constantly wind it so you don't need to). I am a SCUBA diver and although I have a digital divewatch that I use for deep dives I often use this for shallow dives. I like it because it is not only functional and rugged, but looks just as good when I wear my suit or dress blues. I have had it for years and couldn't think of getting another watch. This one was a gift from some buddies in Britain I worked with, but should it ever get stolen or broken beyond repair, I'll gladly buy another one.
And yes, it is the same model that James Bond wears. I use to imitate Sean Connery all of the time for comedic effect and they felt this would be a good gift.
I wear a Sinn 103 series that my uncle gave me for my birthday. I just gave it in to be serviced when I was in Frankfurt two weeks ago. thats 8 weeks without my beloved Sinn. Although I have to Poljots to pass the time with until I get the Sinn back :L

You all realize of course, once you hit a certain point in watches you are paying for the name and what it transfers to you in prestige and name recognition. The cases are still made on a CnC machine and the movmts are still made of the (mostly) same case hardened brass parts and synthetic jewels. Unless you are going to get some custom made piece the rest are all factory manufactured watches. You want true quality? get a watch from the early 19th century. it would be a pocket watch of course but it would be totally hand made right down to the gears which are hand pierced one by one. Unfortunately those watches run terrible and can't be maintained anymore.

You go back even to the early 60s and look at Omega 325s,Navitimers,El Primero Chronos,They were all Crown wheel chronos and are beautifull works of art.
Why people pay thousands for a watch in name only with a cheap disposible mvmt is unbielievable.
