Just thought I'd throw it that for a lot of jobs in the armed forces you can get a waiver for corrected vision, and if you get surgery make sure to check with the program you are applying for. Pretty sure I recall lasik being no good but one of the other ones was. Make sure you check.....
Last, 1OldGI, just curious if you got to play survivor back in 2003, at Eielson...? (and if so do you remember who "rescued"you...)
Just wondering how small the world really is, mostly.

Nope, left Eielson in 1992 (retired in 2005) when I was at Eielson however, resucues were done by an AF Rescue Detachment that was at Eielson at the time (flying H-3's). During the later efforts, I think the Army Aviation guys from Ft. Wainwright came out.

    Ok..
The last time I was there was 2003, we were none of the above listed though. The Jollies were already in 60s by then, I think, but we were only there a month or so.
Guess it's a small world just not that small.

Now that I think about it, the H-3 left about half way through my tour and the Alaska Guard guys from Kulis flew HH-60's up there. Many years later I spent a couple years with the 56th Rescue Squadron at NAS Keflavik, Iceland (HH-60s). What a hoot! I'm way too old for that kind of stuff now but I gotta say there's no fool like an old fool and given the opportunity, I'd go back at the drop of a hat. After 25+ years in the business I was just getting good at it. Oh well, something to be said about coming home to my bride every night, no 2 A.M. phone calls and I really don't remember the last time I worked on a weekend. To be honest, I guess I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was. Thanks for your service and God Bless.

Thank you for your service as well, sir.
I'm not Air Force, but was up at Eielson for one of the joint exercises they were hosting, and had a great time.
As for the mighty H3, almost everyone flies 60's now, but there can only be one King. Long live the King.
