Thanked: 118Sorry, I use alot of old generic gear that I have had for years.
My thoughs are buy it cheap. If it breaks throw it away. If it lasts then buy that brand next time.May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

I don't use it myself but always hear good things about Kifaru, apart from the pricetag...I'm more of a battered issued Berghaus Cyclops Roc bergen from the Falklands type as the price is right and it keeps going and going and then some. Loads of options by adding/removing plce pouches and character galore. The Kifaru kit I've seen looks fantastic to be fair, bet you'll be made up when it lands!
Glad I'm not the only one to get excited about bergens on here! I have a few in canvas and leather as well as cordura. Keep me posted on your initial thoughts and the post-field thoughts when you've had a play if you get a chance. Enjoy and happy trails.

backpacking
nothing like backpacking for me. i try and go every weekend. there is something amazing about only having what you can carry on your back and having to leave the rest at home. being out in the open and sleeping unders the stars. experiencing life at a much slower pace and being more mindful about it. yeah... i feel more at home on the trails then i do in my own house. anyone else can relate? if so where do you backpack and how often? one day i wish to do the AT or PCT. for now i just try and get out there EVERY chance i can even though its only for a night or two cuz of work.

Thanked: 11I'm hoping to walk across Newfoundland at the end of the summer. The walk is the easy part, it's putting aside the money to cover my rent while I'm gone and hold me over until I get a new job since I'll have to quit the one I have to do a month long walk. Next summer it's bicycle across Canada, not backpacking, but similar.

on a side note i took my lady out this past weekend and got visited by a mountain lion and her cub at our camp. lucky for us she took no interest in us. by my lady was scared out of her mind. absolutly beautiful though. they are so majestic
