Big pluses +++ on the Woodford Reserve. Want to try some nice ryes, but I'm kind of hung up on the Woodford. Presently accepting any reasonably priced recommendations for ryes -- under $35?
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

There is only one legal distillery here in Utah, called High West. They make a Double Rye, a blend of 2yr and 16 yr whiskies, and it is very delicious. It has won all kinds of awards since its release, and is in the $35 dollar range. They also make a Rendesvous Rye that is particularly exceptional (96, by malt advocate), but it is a little more pricey. Both can be found online.
FYI, they also make a Bourye (bourbon and rye blend) which is my favorite whiskey, but it's also a little more expensive. Good luck, let us know if you come across anything else in your search."The ability to reason the un-reason which has afflicted my reason saps my ability to reason, so that I complain with good reason..."

If we're throwing bourbon in, my favorite at the moment is Wild Turkey American Honey. Makers Mark is wonderful as well. There is also a soft spot in my heart for Southern Comfort. Drank a lot of the 40 proof SoCo before I was old enough to buy my own alcohol.

Thanked: 884I'm kinna fond of BELL's Scotch and Femmous Groose.
They're cheap!!
Actually, I REALLY like the McAllen, Glenlivet, And most all of the highland single malts. The rest of the single malts taste a bit too much of iodine for my tastes.
I know it ain't whiskey, but I've got a decent pipeline from Mexico and LOVE good tequila. (Cuervo doesn't qualify in my mind) Cazzadores, Cien Anos Puro, Horitos, and El Jimador are my favorites.
OH, The Balvenie single cask is damn smooth sippin scotch and there ain't nothing wrong with Mr Walker's stoof either.

Thanked: 1185We must be kindred spirits Jamesons and Makers Mark are my go-to whiskies. I can get almost anything down but Jack Daniels (an unfortunate incident in my mispent youth involving large quantities of Jack Daniels and a belly full of pistachio nuts, ghastly doesn't even come close )
The older I get, the better I was
